MICRONAUT Identification Systems

 

Micronaut ID

More than 400 different bacteria and yeasts can be differentiated with the MICRONAUT identification systems.

 

The test principle of the MICRONAUT identification systems is based on phenotypic detection of the biochemical properties of micro-organisms. In all identification systems the various substrates are placed in dehydrated form into the wells of the microtitration plates and are dissolved by adding bacterial suspensions.

After 5 to 24 hours of incubation depending on the test system the ID plate is measured in the photometer and the test is evaluated by the MICRONAUT software. A visual check of the test results can be also performed. The special vacuum drying process allows storage at 15 to 25°C.

MICRONAUT Identification Systems include plates for Enterobacteriaceae, gram-negative oxidase-negative bacteria, non-fermenting gram-negative bacteria, streptococci and enterococci, staphylococci, gram-positive bacteria, bacteriological diagnostics in Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) & Identification of clinically relevant yeasts.

  • This ingenious system of building blocks enables the technicians to combine the ID systems according to the special laboratory requirements.
  • Depending on the test configuration of the micro plate, identification of 2 - 8 isolates can be performed simultaneously.
  • The test system provides the rapid option for 5 - 6 hours of incubation or the overnight option for 18 - 24 hours of incubation.

Antimicrobial Susceptability testing with standard MIC plates for coverage of an extended spectrum of organisms in microbilogy.

The test principle of the MICRONAUT system for antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) is based on phenotypic detection of resistance as expressed by microbial growth in presence of antibiotic compounds. This micro dilution procedure is a standardized method and a worldwide accepted reference system for determination of the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC).

For all MICRONAUT AST systems the various antibiotics are placed with or without broth in a dehydrated form into the wells of the microtitration plates and are dissolved by adding bacterial suspensions. After 6 hours (rapid AST) or 18-24 hours of incubation at 35-37°C the AST plate is measured in the photometer and the test is evaluated with the MICRONAUT software or read visually.

Choose your preferred standard like DIN, EUCAST, or CLSI and compose your own customised antibiogram from more than 200 antibiotics. Otherwise you can select from a wide variety of standard layouts. Take your choice, whether it's breakpoint procedure, MIC testing or a combination of both.

MICRONAUT AST Standard MIC plates include plates for MRSA GP, ß-Lactamases VII (ESBL, MBL, KPC, AMP-C), Pneumococcus and Haemophilus, Anaerobs, Campylobacter, multiple drug resistant non-fermenters often associated with cystic fibrosis, & Antimycotics. Further MICRONAUT plates on demand.
