Methocult

MethoCult™ is a line of semi-solid methylcellulose-based media formulated to promote optimal growth and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells in culture. MethoCult™ is the “Gold Standard” for the in vitro detection and quantification of hematopoietic progenitor cells in the colony-forming unit (CFU) or cell (CFC) assay. A wide range of MethoCult™ media formulations are available for CFU assays with hematopoietic cells from human.

MethoCult™ is available in a number of different formulations to meet your needs. The most commonly used formulations are available in both bottles and pre-aliquoted tubes.

 

MethoCult™ Express

Methylcellulose-based medium with recombinant cytokines for rapid hematopoietic colony assays of human cells, IVD.

In MethoCult™ Express, colonies containing at least 20 cells can be counted as early as after 7 days of culture. At this time, most colonies are immature and have not yet differentiated into morphologically distinguishable colony types. Therefore the colonies counted after seven days of culture give information about the total frequency of hematopoietic progenitor cells present in the sample without distinction between different progenitor types. If MethoCult™ Express cultures are maintained for 14 - 16 days, colonies derived from erythroid progenitors (BFU-E), granulocyte-macrophage progenitors (CFU-GM, CFU-G and CFU-M) and multi-potential granulocyte, erythroid, macrophage and megakaryocyte progenitors (CFU-GEMM) can be counted.

MethoCult™ H4434 Classic

MethoCult™ H4434 Classic (MethoCult™ GF H4434) is a complete methylcellulose-based medium for the growth and enumeration of hematopoietic progenitor cells in colony-forming unit (CFU) assays of human bone marrow, mobilized peripheral blood, peripheral blood, and cord blood samples. MethoCult™ H4434 Classic is formulated to support the optimal growth of erythroid progenitor cells (BFU-E and CFU-E), granulocyte-macrophage progenitor cells (CFU-GM, CFU-G and CFU-M), and multipotential granulocyte, erythroid, macrophage and megakaryocyte progenitor cells (CFU-GEMM).

MethoCult™ H4534 Classic Without EPO

MethoCult™ H4534 Classic Without EPO (MethoCult™ GF H4534) is a complete methylcellulose-based medium for the growth and enumeration of hematopoietic progenitor cells in colony-forming unit (CFU) assays of human bone marrow, mobilized peripheral blood, peripheral blood, and cord blood samples. MethoCult™ H4534 Classic Without EPO is formulated to support the optimal growth of granulocyte-macrophage progenitor cells (CFU-GM, CFU-G and CFU-M).

MethoCult™ H4534 Classic Without EPO also comes as a starter kit that contains instructional materials in addition to all reagents and materials necessary to perform 24 duplicate assays.

MethoCult™ H4034 Optimum

MethoCult™ H4034 Optimum (MethoCult™ GF H4034) is a methylcellulose-based medium for the growth and enumeration of hematopoietic progenitor cells in colony-forming unit (CFU) assays of human bone marrow, mobilized peripheral blood, peripheral blood, and cord blood samples. MethoCult™ H4034 Optimum has been formulated to support optimal growth of erythroid progenitor cells (BFU-E and CFU-E), granulocyte-macrophage progenitor cells (CFU-GM, CFU-G and CFU-M), and multipotential granulocyte, erythroid, macrophage, megakaryocyte progenitor cells (CFU-GEMM). The inclusion of G-CSF in Optimum formulations improves discrimination of myeloid colony subtypes. This formulation is compatible with STEMvision™ software for automated colony counting.

MethoCult™ H4034 Optimum also comes as a starter kit that contains instructional materials in addition to all reagents and materials necessary to perform 24 duplicate assays.

MethoCult™ H4435 Enriched

MethoCult™ H4435 Enriched (MethoCult™ GF+ H4435) is a complete methylcellulose-based medium for the growth and enumeration of hematopoietic progenitor cells in colony-forming unit (CFU) assays of human bone marrow, mobilized peripheral blood, peripheral blood, and cord blood samples. This medium supports optimal growth of erythroid progenitor cells (BFU-E and CFU-E), granulocyte-macrophage progenitor cells (CFU-GM, CFU-G and CFU-M), and multipotential granulocyte, erythroid, macrophage and megakaryocyte progenitor cells (CFU-GEMM). MethoCult™ H4435 Enriched is recommended for use with CD34+ cells and other purified cell populations, and for CFU assays performed as part of LTC-IC assays.

MethoCult™ H4535 Enriched also comes WITHOUT EPO to support optimal growth of granulocyte-macrophage progenitor cells (CFU-GM, CFU-G and CFU-M), and is recommended for use with CD34+ cells and other purified cell populations.
